Advantage 40 is an effective spot-on flea treatment for small dogs, cats and rabbits weighing four kilograms or under.
How it works
This medicine comes in a pipette so it's easy to apply directly to your pet's skin. It should be administered in two spots: once on the nape of the neck, and again two to three centimetres further back. These areas are hard for pets to reach, so they can't lick it off. The medicine is then carried around their body by natural oils in their skin. After application, it's important not to let pets groom each other: keep them separate if possible. Advantage 40 also works when wet, so there's no need to reapply after bathing. It's ideal for animals with skin conditions (and dogs who love swimming).

When to use it
Whether they're investigating the neighbour's woodpile or playing with other animals, pets can easily pick up fleas when they venture outdoors. A flea infestation can be itchy, irritating, and painful for pets as fleas attach themselves to their skin and drink their blood. If you notice your pet scratching, biting or licking themselves more than usual it's important to act as fleas can spread quickly.
If you think your pet has fleas, use a flea comb to investigate. Fleas love warm, dark, moist places, so the best place to start searching is in your pet's armpits. Any fleas, larvae or eggs found in your pet's coat can be drowned in a bowl of soapy water.
Dogs weighing more than four kilograms should be treated with Advantage for Dogs. If your cat or rabbit weighs more than four kilograms, use Advantage Large Cats.
Administration:
Part the coat between the shoulder blades until the skin is visible. Place the tip of the spot-on pipette on the skin and squeeze gently to empty its contents onto the skin, preferably at two spots, one at the base of the skull and a second 2-3cm's further back.
Treatment should be applied topically every month. Advantage 40mg for Small Cats, Small Dogs and Rabbits contains 4 applications providing 4 months protection.
